How we test shopping agents

We start by opening an agent account with a real email address and no special access. For each test, we order the same four-item basket: a cotton T-shirt, a pair of sneakers, a USB-C accessory, and a ceramic mug. We record:

  • Agent fee and payment processing fee at checkout.
  • Domestic shipping time from seller to the agent warehouse.
  • QC photo turnaround, number of angles, and whether measurements are shown.
  • Consolidation fee, packaging weight, and volumetric weight.
  • Shipping line options, price, tracking events, and final delivery time.
  • Agent chat reply time and refund or return handling.

We measure garments flat with a tape measure and compare them to the listing size chart. We inspect QC photos for stitching, logos, color, and box condition. We photograph the parcel before opening and keep the original packaging. For shipping-line quotes, we compare at least three routes using the same parcel weight, dimensions and destination. Transit and tracking comparisons use actual equivalent orders where available; estimates remain labelled as estimates.

Comparison scope

Record the US destination region without exposing a recipient's address. Identify the item mix, restrictions, packing choices, dimensions, weight and quoted line. Separate warehouse dispatch, carrier acceptance and final delivery. Compare packing choices with arrival condition. Tracking gaps remain gaps; a carrier estimate is not a delivery result, and previous customs treatment does not guarantee the treatment of another parcel.

The review identifies the sample, dates, conditions and any steps omitted. A hands-on claim requires documented inspection or use; desk research is labelled. Scoring uses the complete 1-to-5 scale with the criteria and evidence explained, including unfavorable findings and missing information.
