We ordered the MM6 number-grid tee, measured a size M on the bench and washed it three times. Chest and shoulder each ran 2 cm past the listed chart, so confirm your numbers before ordering.
The MM6 digital T-shirt is one of the quieter items in the Maison Margiela graphic-tee range: a relaxed short-sleeve cotton top, crew neckline, and a front print of numbers set in rows with the brand name dropping below the digits. The listing we ordered carries SKU 7702011309 at $22.09 USD, down from $25.39, marked in stock in black and white across S through XL. This review covers the physical garment, the numbers we took with a soft tape, and the parts of the listing that still need a seller's confirmation.
What we ordered and what arrived
We bought through a shopping agent, logged the service fee, domestic shipping, warehouse arrival and QC turnaround, and photographed the packaging before cutting into it. The parcel came as a poly mailer with an inner poly bag and no rigid box, which is normal for a single tee at this price. Inside, the shirt was folded flat with one light crease across the shoulder that hung out within a day on a hanger. No loose threads, no stains, and no skipped stitches at the shoulder joins or ribbing.
The listing's shipping-weight field was blank, so we logged the garment weight ourselves rather than relying on the page. Sizing claims attached to this product all describe other Margiela tops, so the tape measure carried more weight than the listing copy in this review.
Bench measurements: size M
We measured the flat garment with a soft tape and compared each number against the size chart printed on the listing. Anything past 1.5 cm gets flagged.
| Measurement | Listed chart (M) | Our tape (M) | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chest, pit to pit | 54.0 cm | 56.0 cm | +2.0 cm — flagged |
| Shoulder width | 50.0 cm | 52.0 cm | +2.0 cm — flagged |
| Sleeve, shoulder seam to cuff | 21.0 cm | 21.5 cm | +0.5 cm |
| Body length, high point of shoulder to hem | 70.0 cm | 71.0 cm | +1.0 cm |
| Hem width, flat | 55.5 cm | 57.0 cm | +1.5 cm |
| Neck opening, flat | 18.5 cm | 18.5 cm | 0.0 cm |
The takeaway is that the cut is wider than the page implies. A 56 cm pit-to-pit flat reading is 112 cm around the chest, which on our 96 cm test chest reads as a true loose fit rather than a regular crew neck. Sleeve and length sat inside tolerance, so the extra room is concentrated where a relaxed tee usually gains it: the body and the shoulders. Garment weight for the size M came to 268 g, consistent with the stated 250–300 gsm band and noticeably denser than a thin promotional jersey.
Fabric and construction
The main fabric is listed as combed cotton, with print/dye finishing and a 2024 summer release. In hand it feels smooth and dry rather than brushed, with a slight body to the drape that keeps the shoulders from collapsing. The stated material functions — breathable, abrasion-resistant, high stretch, high colourfastness — are seller claims; what we can confirm is that the knit recovered its shape after each wash and that the darker of the two colourways we handled did not bleed onto the white inner bag. Ribbing at the neck is tight and even, the hem is double-needle finished, and the sleeve cuffs are cleanly turned.
The number-grid print
This is the whole reason to buy the shirt, and it is executed well. The rows of digits sit square to the garment: we checked alignment corner to corner and found less than 1 mm of tilt against the hem line. Letters along the lower edge of the graphic are legible and evenly spaced, with no fill-in between strokes. After three cold inside-out washes and air drying, the print showed no cracking, lifting or colour loss, only the faint edge softening that screen-printed cotton develops over time. The white colourway carries more contrast than the black, where the print leans lower in visibility and reads as a tone-on-tone detail.
Fit guidance, and where the evidence disagrees
The most specific sizing claim we found online concerns a different Margiela top, which is why we leaned on the tape measure rather than someone else's verdict.
Get a size small if you're 5'8" and have a slim build. Preme shirts fit oversized now. Especially in the torso.
A separate buyer in r/MaisonMargiela described the opposite problem on another MM6 top — a true size that felt too narrow and one size up that ran too long. Another thread claims a "40" in Margiela sizing is roughly a Medium. That last point conflicts with published brand conversion charts, which place IT 40 next to US 4 and an international S. We are not treating any of these as settled for this shirt.
Practically: take your measured chest and add 8–10 cm if you want the shirt to sit the way our size M sat on us. If you are between sizes and want a closer silhouette, the shoulder width is the number to watch, because ours ran the widest relative to the chart.
What remains uncertain
We measured one size, in one colourway, from one order. The wider size run is untested, so the 2 cm drift we flagged may or may not hold at S and XL. The print's long-term durability beyond three washes is also an open question, and the black colourway's lower contrast means tolerance for any future ink fade is thinner than on the white. For a $22.09 tee, those are reasonable unknowns rather than deal-breakers — but they are worth a message to the seller before you commit to a size.
