We ordered the $45.97 blue-wash Ami heart trucker, measured every seam, and sorted through 60-plus variant codes to find it. The jacket holds up better than its own spec sheet does.
We ordered the Ami Paris Heart-Embroidered Street-Style Denim Jacket (SKU 7702064583) at $45.97 against a $50.00 reference, in the blue wash, size L. Before paying we asked the seller for extra photographs of the chest embroidery and the inner care tag, because the listing carries dozens of variant codes and we wanted to be certain which garment we were buying. The parcel arrived intact and we photographed the packaging before opening it. What was inside is a solid mid-weight trucker. What sits behind it in the listing is a spec sheet describing something else entirely, and that gap is the story of this review.
First, the variant-code problem
The listing is not one garment. It is a catalogue of roughly 60 variants spanning short-sleeve tees, long-sleeve tees, striped and solid colourways, pocket versions, flat-embroidery versions, raised-embroidery versions, and three short-run denim groups. Our denim jacket sits in the short denim jacket group, the unisex denim jacket group, and the embossed-wash denim group — offered in denim blue, apricot, apricot with a red heart, and, for the embossed wash, black.
Everything else on the listing page is a shirt. So buyers who skim the colour grid can land on a cotton tee while believing they have ordered a denim jacket. We requested photographs before checkout for exactly this reason, and we would do the same again.
What the listing claims versus what we handled
| Listing field | What it states | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Main fabric | Cotton | Indigo denim shell, mid-weight, low stretch |
| Fabric name | Cotton-linen | No linen hand-feel detected; reads as cotton denim |
| Style | Cardigan, open-front | Button-front trucker with a turndown collar |
| Sleeve | Short sleeve | Full-length sleeve with buttoned cuff |
| Target audience | Youth | Unisex cut, listed S-XXL |
| Season | Summer 2025 | Spring-to-autumn weight; runs warm indoors |
We treat this as a data-entry problem, not a product problem, but it matters at checkout. If you are relying on the listing to tell you the composition, it currently tells you four contradictory things, and the cotton-linen entry does not match the garment in hand.
Fit and measurements
We measured the jacket flat with a soft tape and compared it against the size chart we requested from the seller. Two figures moved more than our 1.5 cm tolerance, and both sit in the same direction.
| Measurement (size L, flat) | Our tape | Chart | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chest, pit to pit | 58 cm | 56 cm | +2.0 cm |
| Shoulder, seam to seam | 50 cm | 48 cm | +2.0 cm |
| Sleeve, shoulder to cuff | 62 cm | 62 cm | 0 cm |
| Body length, collar to hem | 68 cm | 67 cm | +1.0 cm |
| Hem, relaxed | 55 cm | 54 cm | +1.0 cm |
The pattern is a boxy trucker with a dropped shoulder, so the extra width shows up as drape rather than pinching. On a 178 cm frame the hem lands mid-hip; under about 168 cm expect it to read long unless you size down or wear it open over a shorter base layer. Do not import tee sizing logic here — the sizing-down guidance that circulates for Ami heart-logo tees describes a much lighter garment and does not transfer to a denim shell with a button placket.
Construction and hardware
Stitching across the placket, chest pockets and yoke ran straight on our sample, with no puckering at the collar stand. All six buttons were aligned and seated without force. The denim showed no adhesive bleed or glue marks at the seams, and the wash is even across the panels rather than blotchy. The heart embroidery itself is dense and readable, with clean edges and no loose tails on the front motif; we found a single loose thread at the left cuff that trimmed away cleanly.
Hardware is unbranded and functional rather than heavy. The jacket weighed 690 g on our digital scale, which places it in mid-weight territory — enough structure to hold its shape, light enough to layer over a hoodie in shoulder seasons.
Care and durability signals
Public guidance on Ami cotton heart pieces is consistent on two points that we think apply here: wash inside out on cold, and skip high-heat tumble drying. That guidance notes slight first-wash shrinkage on all-cotton Ami garments even with cold hand washing and flat drying, and warns that high heat deforms the heart motif. We have not run a full wash cycle on our sample yet, so we are treating shrinkage as an open question rather than a confirmed outcome. Buyers sitting between sizes and wanting a closer fit should account for that risk.
Value and the open questions
At $45.97 against a $50.00 reference, routed through a shopping agent, the price reflects the sourcing model rather than a verdict on the garment. On the bench, this is a wearable, well-finished trucker with a recognisable motif, and the two-centimetre chest and shoulder deviation is the kind of thing a relaxed pattern absorbs.
What remains unresolved: whether the fabric is genuinely cotton or a cotton-linen blend, since the listing says both; whether the white-and-red-heart version in the product description matches the same pattern as the blue wash we received; and whether all denim codes within the group share our sample's measurements. Our advice is unchanged from the start of this review — confirm the variant code, the fabric and the size chart with the seller in writing before paying, and request photographs of the specific colourway you want rather than trusting the grid.
One garment, three denim code groups and roughly 60 variants. The jacket earned its place; the listing has not yet earned trust.
